Petras, Sitia, Crete — a quiet corner of eastern Crete where the countryside meets the Cretan Sea. Pines and olive trees shade the path to the beach, just steps from your door. Sitia’s tavernas, shops and harbour are a short walk along the coast.
Three generations
Pines & Vines began with our grandparents, who welcomed guests to this same piece of land three generations ago.
At the time, the property was a vineyard. Our grandfather produced local white wine and golden raisins, and the rhythm of life here followed the seasons and the harvest. But the vineyard was never only a place of work. Our grandparents welcomed people simply and generously, and many who arrived as strangers left as friends.
The landscape has changed since then. The vines have given way to an olive grove, while pine and palm trees now provide shade and the garden has become a quieter place. A few of the old grapevines still remain, growing among the olive trees — small reminders of what was here before.
This is where the name Pines & Vines comes from: the pines that define the garden today, and the vines that connect it to our family's past.
Three generations later, the landscape is different, but the welcome remains the same.
